Dawn Spence, SPED Homeschool Team Member

Dawn is a homeschooler, a department coordinator of her local co-op, and a group facilitator. She has been married to her husband David for 13 years and has three children. She has a son and twin daughters.

Before becoming a homeschooling mom, Dawn worked as a teacher and special education teacher for 10 years. She taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade for 7 years, then was blessed to teach PPCD and children with Autism in an ABLE unit.

Dawn has written IEP goals for her school children and now writes her daughter's IEP at home. When she had her twins she stayed home as one of her daughter's was diagnosed with multiple health and developmental delay. Also, through working with her daughter's who have sensory issues, she learned how to adapt her curriculum towards a hands-on sensory approach.
