Unique Learners exists to support homeschool parents of kids with special learning needs and unique learners of any age. Our services include:

  • Individual Tutoring
  • Small Group Classes
  • Homeschool Parent Consultation
  • Individually Administered Assessments - primarily the Woodcock-Johnson
  • Blog information about how learning in a homeschool setting happens for unique learners, DIsability information, teaching strategies, and more.
  • Inexpensive supplementary curriculum from the teaching files of Sue Hegg

Sue Hegg, the founder of Unique Learners, is a veteran homeschool mom of four unique learners with very different learning needs. Sue is also a PhD level learning specialist and works with chidlren and families of kids with dyslexia, autism spectrum disorder, adhd, auditory processing disorders, visual processing disorders. Our specialty areas are teaching reading, writing, and math, and how content knowledge can be learned. Sue is currently working on developing full curriculum for unique learners with more severe learning needs.

Rachel Willingham, our designer, is one of Sue's daughters. Rachel is a mom of two young toddlers and is currently following Christian Montessori learning strategies with her children. 

As Sue continues to retire from direct student academic therapy with students, she is eager to share her expertise through curriculum and developing innovative ways to help homeschool moms and their own unique learners in this exciting age of the homeschool world.
